GNC Deepens Franchise Partnership With DFI Retail Group, Naming It Exclusive Operator in Singapore

GNC and DFI Retail Group announced on August 14 an expanded partnership that names DFI as GNC's exclusive wholesaler, distributor and franchisee across Hong Kong, Macau and Singapore. The deal builds on a collaboration that already runs two decades deep in Hong Kong, one of GNC's largest Asian markets, where DFI has distributed the brand through both standalone GNC stores and its health-and-beauty chain Mannings.
Under the expanded agreement, DFI will run GNC as a franchise operation through its Guardian pharmacy network in Singapore, alongside GNC's own standalone stores, which are being re-established in the city-state. The companies said GNC's vitamins, minerals and sports-nutrition products will be available across Guardian's online and offline channels as well as GNC-branded stores as soon as the fourth quarter of 2026.
The deal is a straightforward example of a Western specialty retailer choosing to expand across three separate Asian markets through a single regional franchise and distribution partner rather than negotiating market by market — the kind of consolidated master franchise arrangement that is becoming more common as APAC retail groups build out multi-market operating capability.
For brands weighing their own entry into Singapore, Hong Kong or Macau, the GNC-DFI renewal is also a reminder that an existing distribution relationship, extended and formalized into a franchise agreement, can be a faster route to market than sourcing a new partner from scratch in each territory.
