Vietnam Enlists Its Embassies to Sell GoGlobal Program to Companies Expanding Abroad

On August 4, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan used a session of Vietnam's diplomatic conference in Hanoi to outline how the country's embassies and overseas trade offices will support the GoGlobal Program, a national initiative the Prime Minister approved in April and the ministry turned into a formal action plan in June.

Under the plan, overseas missions are tasked with gathering market intelligence, flagging regulatory changes and trade barriers, and directly connecting Vietnamese businesses with multinational companies, distributors, logistics operators and investors in their host countries. That information is meant to feed into a planned unified GoGlobal data platform for use by Vietnamese firms.

The program's targets for 2030 include at least 1,000 companies with formal international expansion plans, private-sector exports rising to 50-60% of national export turnover, and a cohort of 20 large enterprises leading global value chains alongside 30 mid-sized firms building specialist niches abroad, with priority sectors spanning advanced manufacturing, e-commerce, green products and digital services.

For Vietnamese franchise brands weighing overseas expansion, the program is a signal that market-entry groundwork long handled informally or through private consultants is being folded into state diplomatic infrastructure — one more input alongside master franchise partners and trade shows for scouting the right country and the right local partner.
