Korean Chain Mom's Touch Enters Singapore Via FairPrice Master Franchise, With Halal Certification in Hand

Korean fried-chicken and burger chain Mom's Touch confirmed on July 29 that it has signed a master franchise agreement with FairPrice Group, Singapore's largest supermarket and retail operator, to open restaurants across the city-state. Under the deal, Mom's Touch supplies the brand, menu and store-operating know-how while FairPrice handles local restaurant development, day-to-day operations and marketing.

The first outlet opens August 14 in Singapore's central business district, with two additional restaurants planned for major commercial areas before the end of 2026. The partners have set a target of more than 25 restaurants across Singapore over the next ten years.

The timing is deliberate: in July, ahead of the launch, Mom's Touch obtained halal certification from the Korea Muslim Federation, which is recognized by Singapore's Islamic religious authority, MUIS. The company says it is now pursuing JAKIM certification in Malaysia and MUI certification in Indonesia, positioning Singapore as an entry point into the broader halal food market across Southeast Asia.

For brands weighing Southeast Asia entry, the deal is a reminder that master franchise partners are increasingly chosen for a specific operating edge — in this case, an established retail network and a credible path through halal certification — rather than capital alone.
